Situated at the crossroads of Europe, Asia, and Africa, the Middle East is one of the most historically significant regions on Earth. It stretches from the eastern shores of the Mediterranean Sea to the Persian Gulf and the Arabian Sea, and includes countries such as the United Arab Emirates, Qatar, Saudi Arabia, Oman, Bahrain, Israel, Jordan, Lebanon, and Turkey. The region is widely considered the birthplace of written language, of agriculture, and of three of the world's major religions.
Business class flights to the Middle East can be booked to arrive at more than two dozen international airports, many of which rank among the busiest and most modern in the world. Dubai International Airport (DXB) is one of the leading airports globally by international passenger traffic, while Hamad International Airport (DOH) in Doha, Qatar, and Abu Dhabi International Airport (AUH) are consistently rated among the finest airports anywhere for passenger amenities and premium cabin lounges.
Travelers book first class flights to the Middle East for both business and leisure. Over the past three decades the region has developed into a global commercial hub, with Dubai and Abu Dhabi in the United Arab Emirates, Doha in Qatar, and Riyadh in Saudi Arabia serving as regional headquarters for banking, energy, logistics, and construction companies from around the world.
Dubai is the most popular destination in the region for corporate travelers as well as for tourists. Known for its luxury shopping malls, high-end hotels, and vibrant nightlife, the city is also home to Burj Khalifa, the tallest building in the world at 2,717 feet (828 meters). Visitors from colder parts of Europe frequently purchase tickets to the Middle East during the winter months in order to enjoy the region's warm climate and beach resorts along the Persian Gulf.
Doha, the capital of Qatar, has become another leading destination for business travelers and tourists alike. The city is home to the Museum of Islamic Art, the Souq Waqif marketplace, and a growing collection of contemporary architecture. Qatar hosted the FIFA World Cup in 2022, which brought an enormous increase in flights to the Middle East and left the country with world-class stadiums, hotels, and transport infrastructure. Nearby, Muscat in Oman and Manama in Bahrain offer quieter alternatives with historic forts, souks, and coastline.
Travelers who book business class flights to the Middle East for cultural and historical reasons often head to Tel Aviv and Jerusalem in Israel, Amman in Jordan, or Beirut in Lebanon. Jordan is home to Petra, the rock-cut city carved into sandstone cliffs more than two thousand years ago and named one of the New Seven Wonders of the World. The Dead Sea, the lowest point on the Earth's land surface, sits on the border between Jordan and Israel and draws visitors from around the globe to its mineral-rich waters.
Istanbul in Turkey is another frequent destination for those who purchase tickets to the Middle East. Spanning two continents across the Bosphorus Strait, the city is home to the Hagia Sophia, the Blue Mosque, Topkapi Palace, and the Grand Bazaar, one of the largest and oldest covered markets in the world.
The Middle East is also the home of several of the world's most highly rated airlines, including Emirates, Qatar Airways, Etihad Airways, and Turkish Airlines. Their hub airports connect the region with nearly every continent, which means cheap flights to the Middle East are often available as part of longer itineraries to Asia, Africa, or Oceania. For many travelers, a stopover in Dubai, Doha, or Istanbul has become a destination in its own right.
Because much of the region has a hot desert climate, airfare to the Middle East tends to be highest between November and March, when daytime temperatures are mild and comfortable. Travelers who are flexible about timing can often find lower fares during the summer, when many hotels and resorts reduce their rates significantly.
