If you’re interested in learning more about the city of Baku, then this guide was written for you. In particular, we’re going to talk about some of the distinct characteristics of the city, and you’ll quickly discover why it’s one of the most beautiful and interesting cities you could ever visit. Of course if you're coming from overseas we'd highly recommend you take a business class flight to make your experience more enjoyable and to ensure you arrive relaxed, refreshed, and READY to take on what this city has to offer. With that in mind, let’s get into it.
Firstly, Baku is the capital city of Azerbaijan - and it’s also the largest city in the entire country. Interestingly, the entire city rests a good distance below sea level - up to 92ft in places! Of course, this means the city has some interesting weather at times, and it’s often nicknamed the ‘city of winds’ for this reason. In fact, it’s not unusual for these harsh winds to be quite a shock for newcomers to the city. In other words, make sure to bring a windbreaker! We don't expect your business class flight to provide that aboard unfortunately, so it'll have to be something you acquire beforehand.
But this isn’t Baku’s only claim to fame. In general, it’s particularly well known for the fantastic array of nightlife - and it’s even earned a respectable spot on the Lonely Planet’s ‘top nightlife’ scoreboard. So if you’re a regular party animal who loves to experience the best nightlife in the world, then this is a city you can’t afford to miss. Many of the best clubs stay open until dawn here, and there’s a wide variety of music styles available - so there’s really something for everyone.
But if nightlife isn’t your scene, perhaps you’ll prefer some of the beautiful parks and gardens. The local government works hard to preserve the green belt in and around Baku, so you’ll certainly be delighted to walk around the wonderful scenery. For further entertainment, the Baku Boulevard is highly recommended. This part of the city contains a variety of amusement parks, statues, and even a musical fountain. Overall, it’s safe to say that Baku is an incredible city with a lot to offer.
