Whether traveling for pleasure or for business, packing right for your trip may take some time to master. The most seasoned of travelers will tell you that packing light will save you a lot of headache during your travels. When you pack light, you will enjoy getting through airport security faster, being more mobile and save yourself the strain of hauling a heavy load. In addition, when you have a small carry on by your side, it will be less likely to get lost, stolen or broken.  Not to mention saving money on check-in baggage fees!

1. Take out all the things you think you might need for your trip and go over them carefully. Will you really need 5 dress shirts or 4 bathing suits? Instead of bringing a heavy jacket, bring layers, and keep a lighter jacket with you on board. Don’t bring items that have been hanging in your closet for years. If you haven’t worn it for some time, chances are, you will not wear it on your trip.

2. Having a toiletries bag full of your favorite cosmetics may be convenient, but keep in mind that it adds to the overall luggage weight that you will be stuck with carrying around. Most of the destinations you will be traveling to will have all of your favorite items in stock. And if they don’t, take it as part of the overall culture experience and get creative! Do, however, bring some pain relieving medication that will come in use for headaches that may occur.

3. Rolling your clothes instead of folding them, will save you a ton of space in the suitcase! We’ve tried it and it works. Not only will you be able to neatly organize and see each item, the clothes will unroll nearly wrinkle-free! Finally, don’t bring too many pairs of shoes. Depending on your location, bring a pair of walking shoes (sandals or sneakers), flip flops, and comfortable dress shoes.
