At one point in time, Ledra Street was divided by the Green Line, which was a UN-led division that separated Greek Nicosia from Turkish Nicosia. There is still a crossing point today, and visitors report having their passports scanned as they cross from Northern Nicosia to Southern Nicosia down Ledra Street. In between, there is a brief “no man’s land” that tourists can pass through, on their way to exploring the cultural shops of each major part of Cyprus.
In the center of Nicosia sits the Athalassa National Forest Park. It’s an open green space that visitors and locals use to walk, hike, bike, and more. Aside from watching the animals and capturing the beauty of the trees, there are often little food stops for ice cream and snacks along the way. Locals can sometimes be found playing games under the shade of a tree.
For gearheads, the Cyprus Classic Motorcycle Museum is a must. This museum collects nearly 500 motorcycles from all around the world, old and new. It’s a beloved stop for both motorcycle enthusiasts and those interested in unique collections.
