Business Class Flights to Daegu, South Korea

Located in the southeastern part of the country, Daegu is South Korea’s third-largest city after Seoul and Busan. Daegu is home to more than 2 million people, and the city’s history dates back to 1500 BCE, when the area was first settled by local people. Today, Daegu is a major industrial and manufacturing center and a hub for South Korea’s fashion design industry, making it an important destination for business travelers and tourists alike. 

Flights to Daegu arrive at Daegu International Airport (TAE). Located in the northeastern part of the city, the airport handles more than 4 million passengers each year, nearly twice the number of residents in Daegu. It is also home to a base belonging to the Republic of Korea’s Air Force. International flights to Daegu, South Korea, are available on a handful of Asian air carriers, including China Eastern Airlines, Asiana Airlines, Korean Air, Jin Air, and Tiger Air Taiwan.

Many of the tourists who fly to Daegu come to the city to see its historic sites. Among the city’s most famous monuments is the Gatbawi Buddha, a stone statue of the Buddha that was created sometime around the 7th century CE. Made of local granite, the statue is 13 feet tall. It is located on top of the nearly 3,000-foot-tall Palgong Mountain, located just outside of the city. Palgong Mountain, which can be accessed from Downtown Daegu by bus, is home to a number of other Buddhist shrines, temples, and an apple orchard trail that fills with apple blossoms during the months of April and May. The trail is about a 3-hour hike, but it’s a beautiful trip for outdoor enthusiasts and active hikers. 

Other popular sites for Daegu’s visitors include the Donghwasa Buddhist Temple, built in the late 5th century; the Daegu Botanical Garden; the Woobang Land amusement park; and the 202-meter-tall Daegu Tower, where visitors can view the surrounding mountains from its observation deck. It’s a beautiful view that both tourists and local residents adore. 

The city is also home to several parks and green spaces that allow locals and visitors alike to escape from the urban hustle. For a more relaxed view of the city as a whole, Daegu has a hop-on hop-off bus that can take travelers around the city on a sightseeing tour. For English-speaking tourists, the Daegu National Museum has an excellent collection of armor, jewelry, and cultural and religious artifacts that offer labeling in English for easy translation. 

Thousands of people book flights to Daegu each year to attend the city’s festivals. Among the most popular are the Daegu International Musical Festival, the Daegu International Bodypainting Festival, Daegu International Jazz Festival, and the Daegu International Opera Festival.

Notable people from Daegu include several professional baseball players, including Ji-Hwan Bae, who plays second base for the Pittsburgh Pirates. Jin Sun-Yu, a short track speed skater who won a gold medal in the 2006 Winter Olympic Games; mixed martial artist Choi Doo-ho; and Min Yoon-gi, a K-pop singer who is a member of the popular group, the Bangtan Boys, are all from Daegu.
