South Korea’s second-largest city after Seoul, Busan is located on the country’s southeastern coast. The city and its surrounding region are home to about 3.5 million people.

Busan is a key cultural and economic hub in South Korea and the home of the country’s busiest seaport. Billions of dollars’ worth of goods pass through Busan’s port each year.

Flights to Busan arrive at Gimhae International Airport located in the suburb of Gangseo-gu. Passengers who book flights to Busan, South Korea, can use the city’s Busan-Gimhae Light Rail Transit system to travel into the city from the airport.

Visitors can also take advantage of the city’s ferries to get from place to place. Ferries arrive and depart from the International Ferry Terminal located in Busan’s port. Ferry service is available to other coastal cities in South Korea as well as ports in Japan.

Often called “the summer capital of South Korea,” Busan is also known as a resort area. Many people book plane tickets to Busan in order to vacation at one of its six large beaches. Vendors at one of Nampo-dong’s three open-air markets sell everything from fresh seafood and produce to prepared Korean specialties.

Busan’s 17-acre Yongdusan Park is home to the city’s iconic 120-meter-tall Busan Tower. The structure was built in the early 1970s as an observation tower. It is one of the city’s most popular attractions and can be seen from most of Busan’s neighborhoods. The Busan Aquarium, South Korea’s largest, is also located in the park. These sites alone convince many to purchase plane tickets to Busan, South Korea.

Many people visit one or more of Busan’s nearly 30 Buddhist temples during their stay in the city. Some of the temples date back hundreds, or even thousands, of years while others are relatively new. Among the city’s most well-known temples is the Beomeosa Temple, located on the summit of a local mountain, Mount Geumjeongsan. Beomeosa Temple was built in the 7th century and was once a pilgrimage site that was home to hundreds of Buddhist monks. Today, visitors come to Beomeosa Temple to see its ancient architecture and enjoy its beautiful natural surroundings.
