An island in Spain’s Balearic Island archipelago, which is located in the Mediterranean Sea off of the country’s central coast, Mallorca (sometimes spelled Majorca) is a popular vacation destination for people from northern Europe and the United Kingdom, especially during the summer months. Mallorca is known for its beautiful white sand beaches, clear blue water, scenic mountains, and small villages. The island is home to a number of working vineyards and farms and to historic architecture and ruins dating back to the Moors and ancient Romans. It is home to a rail network that connects most of the island’s larger cities and towns as well as to a bus system that serves many of the island’s smaller villages. Mallorca has a large number of scenic cycling routes that connect popular island tourist destinations.
