Business class flights to Alicante, Spain, arrive at Alicante Elche Miguel Hernandez International Airport (ALC). The airport is located about six miles south of the city in the town of Elche. It is a hub for several low-cost airlines including Ryanair, easyJet, and Vueling, making cheap flights to Alicante available to many travelers. Alicante Elche Miguel Hernandez International Airport serves more than 15 million passengers each year.

Direct flights to Alicante are available from several European cities including Amsterdam, Geneva, London, Belfast, Frankfurt, and Helsinki. Some flights to Alicante operate only during the summer months when the tourist season is at its peak.

Tourists who fly to Alicante come to vacation at the area’s beach resorts as well as to see the city’s historic sites. One of Alicante’s most well-known historic buildings is the Castle of Santa Barbara located on top of Mount Benacantil, a small coastal mountain that can be seen from all points in the city. The Barrio de la Santa Cruz, the picturesque city neighborhood south of the castle, is also a popular destination for visitors. Other city sites include the 18th-century Gravina Palace, which is today home to the Gravina Museum of Fine Arts, and Tabarca island, located just off of Alicante’s coast.

The Alicante Bullring is a fantastic attraction for those who are fans or just curious about the famous Spanish sport. Visitors who book flights to Alicante can catch a bullfight at the venue, as well as explore its bullfighting museum, complete with costumes and exhibits. For extreme fans, the Alicante Bullring includes an on-site chapel.

Nearby Mount Tossal is a fantastic outdoor area featuring gardens, forests, statues, and parks that the whole family can enjoy. There are even very touristy attractions such as rock climbing and mini golf. However, the real draw to visitors who book flights to Alicante is the San Fernando Castle, which rests on Mount Tossal. This castle is one in name only, as it was originally built to be a fort for French troops, though the French never arrived, as they had a war with Russia to prepare for. For years, San Fernando Castle sat there, but today this military fortification is open to the public and is a great way to spend an afternoon strolling under the sun.

Visitors also come to Alicante to attend the Bonfires of Saint John festival, held in late June.

The city is also well-known for its lively nightlife scene, live music venues, and dining. Speaking of dining, no flight to Alicante is complete without an exploration of its fine cuisine and tapas restaurants. A popular destination for tourists is the El Gosto del Gourmet Restaurant, which offers both indoor and outdoor seating. This warm and charismatic spot features delicious tapas, croquettes, paella, and an amazing selection of local wines. One of the reasons for its popularity, aside from its tantalizing flavors, is its approachable staff, many of whom speak multiple languages. Stop here near the main street in Alicante, and then take a leisurely stroll to see the city’s beautiful architecture.

Students are another group of people who frequently fly to Alicante. The University of Alicante, founded in the late 1970s, has an enrollment of more than 27,000 students.
