In addition to the royal Noordeinde Palace, tourists who fly to The Hague frequently visit the city’s Mauritshuis art museum to view paintings by Dutch Masters Rembrandt and Vermeer, and the Louwman Museum, which houses a variety of historic cars, motorcycles, and other vehicles.
Tourists who fly to the Hague to see the Peace Palace, which is home to the UN’s International Criminal Court, won’t be disappointed. While visitors can’t freely explore the Peace Palace, there are three guided tours that let them see the gardens, grounds, and select areas of the Peace Palace’s interiors. In the visitor center, there are also exhibits about the work done in this building, as well as a short film.
Founded in 1866, the Kuntsmuseum Den Haag, an art museum, houses beautiful works of art from famous artists all over the world. Visitors can see works by Claude Monet, Pablo Picasso, Vincent Van Gogh, and so many other artists.
Notable people from The Hague include several Dutch monarchs such as Queen Beatrix and King William I; Baroque painter Johannes Vermeer; rock guitarist Adrian Vandenburg; aviator and founder of KLM Royal Dutch Airlines, Albert Plesman; and Alexine Tinne, a photographer and one of the first women to explore Africa in the 19th century.
