Vaduz is the only European capital without its own airport, so flights to Vaduz, Liechtenstein, arrive at Zurich International Airport (ZRH) in Switzerland. The airport is about 75 miles from Vaduz. Most travelers who fly to Vaduz don’t mind the 1.5-hour drive from the airport as it is quite scenic and makes for a relaxing ride.

Cheap flights to Vaduz can often be booked during the off-season fall and spring months or on one of the low-cost airlines that have a presence at Zurich International Airport, such as easyJet.

In spite of its small size, Vaduz is home to several museums. These include the Liechtenstein National Art Gallery, the Liechtenstein National Museum, the Postage Stamp Museum, and a Ski Museum.

While many business travelers may book flights to Vaduz, because the city is the economic and financial heart of Liechtenstein, there are plenty of visitors who fly to Vaduz to relax and immerse themselves in the beautiful Alpine culture. This includes a stop at the Vaduz Castle, which is one of several gorgeous, historical castles and palaces that add to the beautiful landscape. While the castle isn’t open to the public, there are nearby viewpoints that offer fantastic overlooks of both the castle and the city of Vaduz.

The Liechtenstein National Art Gallery, more commonly known as the Kuntsmuseum Liechtenstein, includes a wide array of sculptures and art pieces from the 19th century, with a primary focus on Danish and Flemish artists. Many of the works housed at this museum come from the Prince of Liechtenstein’s personal collection.

The Postage Stamp Museum is one of the more unique indoor stops tourists who fly to Vaduz can make. Not only can they find a collection of stamps here, including rare ones, but this museum offers a history and overview of the postal service as a whole in the country. It’s part of the Liechtenstein National Museum, which showcases a greater look at the history of this nation and the surrounding region.

For those looking to immerse themselves in the food and drink of the people of Vaduz, the Hofkellerei, better known as the Royal Winery, offers unique wine-tasting experiences unlike any other. Visitors to this establishment can take tours of the royal vineyards and indulge in aged wines that have served both everyday people and the royal family of Liechtenstein.

Like much of the Alpine region, the language commonly spoken in Liechtenstein is a form of German. Tourists, too, shall find that the food is Germanic in nature, with the national dish of Liechtenstein being composed of spaetzle, cheese, and caramelized onions.

The Cathedral of Saint Florin, often called the Vaduz Cathedral, is also a popular site for tourists who fly to Vaduz to visit. Built in 1874, the church is the burial place for several members of Liechtenstein’s royal family.

A trip to Vaduz wouldn’t be complete without a stop at the main square, which is home to a plethora of shops, cafes, beautiful sculptures, souvenirs, and more. Because Vaduz is a small city, most of the eateries, restaurants, and shops are found primarily in the square. For some tourists, it’s the primary spot for souvenirs and items to take back home.

Notable people from Vaduz include Olympic-medal-winning alpine ski racer Tina Weirather and professional tennis player Stephanie Vogt.
