For tourists who fly to Debrecen in search of rest and relaxation, the Nagyerdei Park (or “Great Forest Park”) is a great destination. This area is the country’s first national conservation park, and it’s full of lush trees, sculptures, and ponds. For families, there is a nearby zoo and a playground for children, and for adults, a thermal bath in the area offers comfort and relaxation.

Just a few steps away from the Nagyerdei Park is the University Botanical Garden. This nearly 100-year-old garden offers over 6,000 plant species and over 750 wooded tree species. It’s a great place to visit for outdoor enthusiasts and aspiring horticulturists. Because it’s associated with the university, plenty of students often visit the botanical garden.

Notable people with ties to Debrecen include Jozsef Varadi, CEO of Wizz Air; fashion model Orsi Kocsis; and Olympic bronze medalist swimmer Boglarka Kapas.
