Many of the people who book business class flights to Fukuoka travel to the city for work as it is home to several large companies. Flights to Fukuoka arrive at Fukuoka International Airport (FUK). A former air force base, once known as the Itazuke Air Base, the airport is the largest on the island of Kyushu. More than 21 million passengers pass through the airport each year.

Flights to Fukuoka are available from several cities in Asia as well as from other locations around the world. These include Hong Kong, Manila, Tokyo, Seoul, Busan, Bangkok, and Singapore, among several others. Direct flights to Fukuoka may also be available from some large airports in the United States including Los Angeles, San Francisco, and New York City (JFK to Fukuoka). Cheap flights to Fukuoka are often available on low-cost carriers such as Jin Air, VietJet, and Jeju Air. Fukuoka International Airport is a hub for both Japan Airlines and All Nippon Airways. As travelers can see, there are plenty of options available for both business travelers and tourists alike to explore Fukuoka.

A portion of the travelers who fly to Fukuoka are students. The city is home to more than 10,000 foreign students. Many of these young people fly to Fukuoka from as far away as the United States and Europe to attend university and experience the rich culture.

Fukuoka’s most well-known university, the University of Fukuoka, was founded in the first decade of the 20th century. The school has an enrollment of more than 18,000 students. Fukuoka is also home to several other universities including the Fukuoka Institute of Technology; the Kyushu Institute of Design; and Nakamura Gakuen University.

Fukuoka is also a popular destination for tourists. More than 2 million tourists fly to Fukuoka each year. In addition to the city’s historic sites, popular tourist attractions include the Marine Park Uminonakamichi, a large amusement park; the Hakata Port Tower, an observation deck overlooking the city’s harbor; and the annual Yamakasa festival, which is held in July. Because Fukuoka has such a high density of younger people, it’s a city with a very active nightlife. Plenty of late-night activities, bars, and other venues are open for students and other young people to socialize and have fun together.

For older tourists who fly to Fukuoka, there are plenty of sightseeing opportunities. Ohori Park features one of the city’s best art galleries. Across from Ohori Park is also the Fukuoka Castle, a reconstructed and renovated castle that preserves the history of the original, which was constructed in the early 17th century. There are also museums dedicated to Asian ceramics, the Mongolian invasion, and the general history of the area, all offering rich, cultural experiences for travelers who love submerging into the history of a region.
