Flights to Hangzhou, China, are served by the Hangzhou Xiaoshan International Airport (HGH), which is located about 17 miles east of the city’s Central Business District (CBD). The airport is one of China’s largest. Hangzhou Xiaoshan International Airport offers flights to and from cities throughout China and several other countries in Asia, Africa, Europe, and the United States.

Many of the people who purchase tickets to Hangzhou travel to the city for business reasons. In addition to being one of China’s major ports, the city is home to a large manufacturing sector. Several high-tech and e-commerce companies also have offices in Hangzhou. Many of these companies are located in the newer part of the city in the Hangzhou Economic and Technological Development Zone. Multinational technology firms such as Motorola, Nokia, Alibaba Group, and Siemens operate research and development facilities in this part of the city along with hundreds of software companies, biotech firms, and consumer electronics companies.

Hangzhou is also known for the production of Longjing tea (also known as “Dragon Well tea”). A specialized variety of green tea that is mostly produced by hand, Longjing tea is grown and processed just outside of the city in Longjing Village. Many of the visitors who book tickets to Hangzhou purchase Longjing tea to take home, as it is world-renowned for its high quality and unique flavor.

Flights to Hangzhou are also booked by tourists who come to the city to experience its historical sites, culture, food, and natural outdoor spaces. West Lake, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, is one of the city’s most popular destinations. The lake and its surrounding area encompass more than 8,000 acres and are home to historical and religious sites and beautiful natural landscapes. In fact, since the 9th century, the ornamental trees, gardens, and landscapes of West Lake have inspired similar designs and influenced natural areas in Japan and Korea. Phoenix Mountain, the city’s highest point, overlooks West Lake. The mountain is a popular place for hiking and the historical site of an imperial palace once belonging to the Southern Song dynasty.

Tourists who book tickets to Hangzhou also enjoy visiting some of the city’s other notable sites. These include The Grand Canal, the world’s longest hand-dug waterway and a UNESCO World Heritage Site that was built in 610 CE. The Hangzhou Botanical Garden, the Hangzhou Zoo, and the Yue Fei Temple, built in the 13th century, are also popular with visitors. The Yue Fei Temple was built during the Southern Song dynasty to honor a famous military general, Yue Fei, who was known for bravery and is considered a national hero for China.

The city is also home to several museums, including the China National Silk Museum and the China National Tea Museum, which offers exhibits on the different varieties of tea, growing regions, and the process by which the tea most people consume is harvested and produced. For tea enthusiasts, this museum is worth the flight to Hangzhou alone.

Hangzhou is also an important education center in China. The city is home to more than a dozen universities, making cheap flights to Hangzhou popular with students. Among the city’s more well-known universities are Hangzhou City University; Zhejiang University, which is considered by many to be one of the best universities in China; Zhejiang Gongshang University, China’s first formal business school; Zhejiang Sci-Tech University; and Zhejiang University of Media and Communications, which was founded in 1984.
