Qantas Boeing 787 -9 - What Routes Will Its Dreamliner International Business Class Flights Have?
It will be a few more years before the very first Qantas Boeing 787-9 makes its inaugural flight. Once this happens however, what routes will the Dreamliner international business class flight grace? Alan Joyce, the CEO, has already name dropped a few possible routes as well as let the public know about the criteria that will help shape the 787-9 Dreamliner's destinations. It is believed that the Qantas Dreamliner is destined for greatness as it will be able to open new routes all around the world. Still, Alan Joyce is too aware that there are difficult challenges to this. The plane's seating in other airlines is already getting criticism as it is.
He has been quoted as saying that the routes that are being discussed may end up being much different than the actual routes the jet takes due to its size. He understands this too well having experience in planning schedules and airline routes at both Ansett and Qantas Airlines. He has announced that the real routes that the plane ends up being scheduled to take will greatly depend on what Qantas thinks the market demands at the time.
Qantas is currently awaiting the arrival of another eight jets by the end of 2018, which will join its current international fleet. With the announcement of this order, Mr. Joyce indicated that the larger fleet of larger planes has the potential to take on routes that previously were untenable. Now, it is predicted that flights from Australia to Dallas, Texas can finally become reality.
The CEO sees huge appeal in getting the Dreamliners onto routes without having to stop at major hubs such as LAX. He believes Perth will soon be a launch pad for many non-stops to Europe. Qantas expects to have an edge in the existing competition by getting time to test out its routes on the 787-9s after growing pains have subsided.
