Fly San Francisco to Tokyo in under 5 hours
Business Class flights from San Francisco to Tokyo will soon only take 4.7 hours on a new supersonic jet called Boom, saving you 6.3 hours.
The new jets will consist of a business class-only cabin and accommodate 40 passengers. The configuration of the seats is 1-1, where every passenger will have a window seat and access to the isle. The only downside of Boom is their recliner seats, similar to those of domestic Business Class. Sorry, no fully flat-bed seats there.
But when the flight in Business Class from New York to London will only take 3.5 hours, and Sydney to L.A. will take 6, there will be hardly any time to make the bed!
How is this made possible? Boom’s speed of Mach 2.2 will reach the speedometer at 1,451 mph, which is 2.6 times faster than other airlines. In addition, the Boom will fly in thin air at 60,000 feet, nearly half as high as regular flights. Founder and CEO Blake Scholl, is optimistic about launching a prototype by the end of 2017 and hopes to make supersonic Business Class travel available and affordable to all.
